This is my guess: Using Xplane without Turbo Switch, Turbo Boost turns on to comply with the software demand and as soon as temperature rises, it is turned off as failsafe.this is why (my guess) on my initial post I described how after several minutes I would experience a FPS drop. It is autonomous and controlled by the OS which in fact always tries to have it off for power saving purposes unless a particular software demands it.such as Xplane. I did a little research and Turbo Boost is not always on (or off) unless certain conditions are met including CPU demand and Temperature. We just have to wait for the stable 11.50, so far in beta I'm liking the performance we get on a Mac. Something is always loading in the background. These solutions sometimes don't work as well. The only solution I can find are three ways: Regenerate weather through X-Weather(works 30% of the time), Refresh FlyWithLua plugin(works 70% of the time), and switch to windowed mode, run and back to full screen(works 50% of the time). I posted a topic about that if you would like to see for more details. Something is always loading that X-Plane won't tell me. For 11.41, I don't get crashes but I always get low FPS during descent all the way to final approach at around 5 FPS. I have to test the beta 6 more if I still get crashes. Right now is off so the CPU load runs from 1-3% and in under 30C temps, it all depends on what you're doing.ĭo you use a 15-inch? If so what screen resolution do you use? I set mine at scaled 1440x900 for both Mac only when running X-Plane in the display settings and the same setting in the sim, I found out I get lower FPS when using higher resolution to the default(1680x1050) or even the highest one at 2880x1800. This app only lets us turn off turbo boost whenever we don't need them for more efficient battery usage and lower temps. I believe that turbo boost is always on even without this app. I also use this app to only switch the turbo boost off. Ive been using b6 for a few days now, no crashes and no FPS drops whatsoever BUT only builtin monitor. Be careful though, temps should not be running constantly above 70/80C you can damage your processor (you can watch the processor temps in the TBS app). What kept happening to me is that once my processor temp went above 50/60C, the turbo boost would auto. Hi For the turbo boost setting I am using the turbo boost switcher app, you can find it here.
